My dad is being a jerk and taking advantage of the fact that I left myself logged on - and posting this as if he were me! (He's assuming that I'll read this and learn something about my family.)
Dad's stepfather was a United States Marine. Being the smallest man in his company, he was assigned to carry the predecessor of the SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon) which is pictured above. The BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) and its accompanying ammunition package were heavy, but they were given to the smallest Marines because they were the smallest targets.
Hello! Haha. Not being a jerk at all! The gun in the picture is a M-240B, but I had the SAW and it was a bitch to carry (and I'm a fairy big guy). My grandfather fought in WWII and he said the BAR's were so heavy that a lot of guys would just try to ditch them and take Garands. That's interesting with the smallest Marines! Thank you for your comment (both of you) and check out more pictures of Afghanistan and others on my gallery! Have an awesome day!
Thank you very much! I served with the 25th Infantry Division from March 2004-05, got out about a year later. I appreciate that very much! Be sure to check out my gallery for a lot more pics during my time there. I only wish I could have taken more! Have a great day/night!
Thank you. I'm glad they canceled your deployment. Your range is waiting for you somewhere in the future. Afghanistan is a very sad place. I feel very bad for the women and the children. The men were loathsome. All a deployed soldier there is is a target, a bag of American blood, and that treasure is worth nothing that exists there. Thank you for your service dudeman. What are you in?
